"Fish Face"
Alex Libby is a 17 year old living in Edmond, Oklahoma. Before moving from Sioux City, Iowa, he was bullied by lots of people at his school. He was called things like “fish face” and other things. During the filming of Bully, he says “I don’t mind.”Born prematurely, he was diagnosed with a mild version of autism and attention deficit disorder. It's difficult for him to relate to others in social ways and focus in class. Most people believe that conditions that affect your appearance will most likely be a victims of bullying.
According to a study, it shows that about 8% of bullying happens on a school bus. Most of the bullying he experiences,the documentary shows, happen on the bus to and from school. Another study shows that, 86% of students said, "other kids picking on them, making fun of them or bullying them" motivates them to consider turning to lethal violence in schools. Later, the Libby’s go to the vice principal about the situation and were told the students on Alex's bus were "as good as gold" and there was nothing she could do to stop the bullying. Hearing this coming from the vice principal, they were unsatisfied and decided to move their family to Edmond, Oklahoma. Prior to moving and joining an anti-bullying campaign, Alex received apologies from some of the students at his old school that used to bully him. “I stand for the silent” is a campaign started by a father of another child in the Bully documentary.
